Arrival orientation
IFAA staff will meet interns at the arrival airport (Chicago, IL or San Francisco, CA) and spend four days with them during the orientation IFAA staff will explain details about the contents of the IFAA agreement, duration of stay, allowances, educational activities, interns responsibilities and details about the host farm and what to expect from the american culture.
Independent trip
At the end of the internship period, interns will have seven days to have an independent trip. Interns will be able to visit other places of interest, other agricultural areas, and tourist regions of the USA. The planning and expenses of this seven days trip is entire intern responsibility.
Winter and summer seminars
The interns will be invited to participate into two seminars. One during the summer and the other during the Fall/Winter seasons. Each seminar has a duration of seven days, where interns will have lectures from professors and specialists in agriculture. Also they will visit farms and agribusinesses, visit interesting places, and have some entertainment. Universities, as University of Wisconsin, Iowa State University, California State University – Fresno and University of Hawaii, have greatly contributed in organizing seminars for IFAA interns. Seminar are a great opportunity to increase their knowledge about farming and the American way of living, to meet other IFAA interns from different countries (Japan, South Korea, Bolivia, and Paraguay) and to strengthen friendship bonds and the goodwill between different cultures.
